So I’ve put together this information to help you get started using Flipboard or get more out of using Flipboard. Life has changed and Flipboard is now the most used app on my tablet.Īnd since I wrote my post on Google Reader replacements, I’ve had a lot of people ask me what benefits I gain using Flipboard that they missed! I originally hated Flipboard and found the magazine style layout cluttered. Like I mentioned before this version of Flipboard embraces the Metro-style design of Windows, so it also support Snap view to read stories side-by-side with other apps.I wasn’t always this way. Just swipe from the bottom up, and you find commands like subscribe, refresh, or pin to the Start screen. You can “flip” (swipe) your stories like in a magazine, tap items to view them, you can tap “Discover” from the top bar to find even more content, and of course you can add your publications and search stories.įlipboard also has more options, which are easily accessible from the Windows 8.1 App commands. You have your Cover Stories section with content you’re subscribed to, the other sections are populated with content you’re interested in. Once you’re all set up configuring the app, browsing and discovering new content is as you would expect from Flipboard in iOS or Android.
As such this version comes with support for Snap view and Live Tile, so you can pin your favorite sections to the Start screen too. When you first set up the popular content discovery app, you’ll notice that shares a lot of similarities with the Android and iOS version, but this new version of Flipboard has been tailored to match the look and feel of Windows 8.1.
